Operculicarya decaryi is a prized bonsai species from Madagascar, Africa and highly coveted in bonsai for its unique twisted appearance, trunk knobs, and tiny leaves.
The branches naturally twist and create interesting shapes, and the stem grows interesting lumps and knobs. The leaves naturally stay small, which lends to a beautiful bonsai-like appearance with very little maintenance. This is one of the best bonsai plants for someone who does not want be bothered with all the maintenance of a traditional bonsai.
This guy wants bright light. Leaves may turn red and fall when it decides to go dormant. As with most caudex plants, do not overwater.
These plants are grown in 3.5-4" pots. Shape varies due to the plant's twisting nature.
